Wheatgrass for Thalassemia Major

What is wheatgrass?

Wheatgrass is the younger version of the wheat plant. It is harvested at an early stage when it is around 7 to 10 inches tall.

At this young age, the wheatgrass is bursting with beneficial and potent nutrients that can be used as a cure for so many health problems.

Thalassemia is one of them. Continue reading to find out how it can benefit you.

Read the complete list of supplements I recommend for Thalassemia Major. I’m taking them too.

What are the benefits of wheatgrass for Beta Thalassemia Major?

Wheatgrass has amazing properties and recent studies have shown that it can help build red blood cells and chelate iron at the same time!

Can you believe that?

Wheatgrass can increase HB and chelate iron at the same time!

This is like a dream for all thalassemia warriors.

Some other benefits of wheatgrass are:

  • it is an immunity booster
  • it is a potent antioxidant
  • it may help reduce cholesterol levels
  • it may improve energy levels
  • it improves the quality of life for thalassemics

Even though wheatgrass is quite promising, I would recommend you talk to your doctor before starting it.

How much wheatgrass should I take?

If you are using a supplement tablet or powder, just follow the dosage on the label.

I generally start lower than the recommendation on the product label and slowly work my way up. This way it’s easier for me to manage any side effects.

However, it is always preferable to get fresh wheatgrass juice if you are able to. One glass in the morning should work great.

What is the best time to drink wheatgrass?

I’ve found that the best time to drink wheatgrass is morning right after I wake up.

You should try it out at different times and see what works for you. However, I would not recommend drinking fresh wheatgrass juice at night as that might give you tummy problems.

You can try to take the supplement or powder form if you are always on the move, as that is more convenient.

The powder form takes some getting used to as it does NOT taste good at all!

What are the side effects of wheatgrass?

General side effects include nausea, vomiting, and tummy-related issues. But these subside in a few days.

I would recommend you start slow and monitor the side effects. If you feel good, slowly increase the intake but don’t go over the dosage provided on the label.

Don’t forget to bring your doctor onboard before starting wheatgrass so that any side effects can be monitored and treated medically if required.

Which form of wheatgrass is the best?

Fresh wheatgrass juice takes the win. You can’t go wrong with fresh but that is not very convenient or affordable.

I’ve tried the powder form as well but that was not easy for me. Drinking it every day was a task on its own. So I ended up going online to look for a better product that I can easily take without throwing up.

I found Dr. Wheatgrass Supershots, an Australian product. It’s quite potent and very easy to take as well.

The good thing about Dr. Wheatgrass Supershots is that I don’t have to drink a full glass. Just need to put a spoonful in my mouth and hold it in for a minute as it is best absorbed that way.

It tastes refreshing and is quite easy to take, and the health benefits that come along with it are just too good. You should definitely give it a try to see what I am talking about.

You’ll notice the difference in a week or so. And you’ll probably even see it in your blood reports.
